Jersey Greg

Jersey Greg

Jersey Greg is an Armenian-American resident of Cheap City and the owner and operator of Jersey Greg’s Armenian-Italian Jersey Style Subs.

Early Life

Jersey Greg was born in 1985 and raised in Neptune City, New Jersey by his working class parents, both immigrants from Armenia. Greg (who often says he has no last name, but two first names which he uses interchangeably), dropped out of high school after failing to correctly identify even one geographical difference between his parents home country of Armenia, and his perceived nation of heritage, Italy. In lieu of an education, Jersey Greg worked in his parents Deli, who were often confused as to why Greg was convinced their family was Italian. They often explained to him that they were only serving Italian food because there was no market for Armenian cuisine in Neptune City - although Bruce Springsteen once famously asked for bozbash while dining there.

Life In Yerevan

Hoping to learn more about his family’s heritage, Jersey Greg moved to Yerevan in 2005 with the hopes of introducing the Armenian people to the submarine sandwich culture he had grown to love. He opened a restaurant called Jersey Greg’s which quickly went bankrupt. The newspaper Aravot published a political cartoon depicting Jersey Greg screaming, “What the fuck is kofta?! We serve subs here ya big jamoke!”

Moving To Cheap City

In 2007, broke and hopeless, Jersey Greg found his way to Cheap City. He decided to take one more chance at operating his own sub shop before moving back to Neptune City. He ultimately decided on Armenian-Italian fusion and created Jersey Greg’s Armenian-Italian Jersey Style Subs. Located directly across the street from the famed Ninth Street Deli, JGAIJSS - as it is known to locals - has carved out a specific niche in Cheap City’s dining life. Remarkably, almost no conflict betweeen JGAIJSS and the Ninth Street Deli has been reported.
